In The Joe Jackson Tapes Revisited: Glen Campbell, journalist and broadcaster Joe Jackson reflects on the life and work of the late, great Glen Campbell, giving listeners a unique opportunity to hear the only in-depth interview Campbell ever gave to the Irish media. Listen to the show above.
Joe Jackson on the The Joe Jackson Tapes Revisited: Glen Campbell:
"As I say at the start of this show, I became an interviewer purely to meet my music heroes, starting with Leonard Cohen and I'd loved Glen Campbell's music since I was a kid. So, to sit with him for an hour or so in 1990, especially given that the man was so articulate, funny and provocative, as he recalled not only his own solo career, but also working with the likes of Elvis, and The Beach Boys was a sheer delight. Campbell also did not shy away from my exploration of his demons and darker side, namely his addiction to alcohol and cocaine and physical outburst during his marriage to Tanya Tucker. This particular tape was a joy to revisit."
