Every fortnight, I select 5 of my favourite artworks - this fortnight's theme is Neon. Tag your work on Instagram with #RTÉArtLove to be featured.
1. Victoria Siemer
One of the more popular Instagrammers on the list, Victoria Siemer is famous for her emotive neon photography.
2. Tracey Emin
Tracey obviously needs no introduction, with the rise in popularity of the neon trend, her neon artworks are doing the rounds on Instagram recently. You may have spotted her I Fell in Love Here piece lighting up the The Dean Hotel, Dublin
3. Slava Thisset
Slava is all about rainbow and neon tones in his dreamy photography. He doesn't appear to have an Instagram account, but there are many pieces to discover via the hashtag #SlavaThisset.
4. Kate Hush
A personal favourite, Kate Hush is based in New York City and created original physical and digital neon pieces. She was one of the founders of the ever-popular animated neon trend imitated by many other artists, including the Shynola creative team who created the intro titles for the recent Netflix hit GLOW. This piece, Waiting for Tonight, is inspired by Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks.
5. Bruce Nauman
The evocative piece Double Poke in the Eye is from 1985 but has cropped up in art lovers' insta feeds of late. Below is a clip from Nauman's current show in Tate Modern, among a selection of other pieces from various other artists.
I hope these offer some creative inspiration - leave your thoughts in the comments below.
