With a thick Scottish accent and dark sense of humor, Brian 'Limmy' Limond has raked in a host of accolades ranging from two British Academy Scotland Awards for Best Entertainment Programme (2011) and Best Comedy or Entertainment (2013), two published books Daft Wee Stories (2015) and That's Your Lot (2017) as well as 299k Twitter followers
Best known for his podcast Limmy's World of Glasgow and his BBC comedy series Limmy's Show, the internet sensation has a cult fandom due to his frank, honest and often controversial opinions.
It seems that no topic is off limits for the comedian who often takes to Twitter to speak about his mental health, experiences with depression medication and his issues with alcohol addiction.
"In my mind, I can joke about anything, terrible, terrible things that could happen to my son or my girlfriend. I can joke about things like that because I can separate joke, humour, fantasy from the real world" he told The Guardian.
I sat down with the Glasgow native to discuss the addictive qualities of controversy, his need to troll Trump followers on Twitter, and the correlation between comedy and mental health.
You can catch Limmy at the Cork Opera House, Galway's Black Box Theatre, Limerick's Lime Tree Theatre, the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival and Dublin's Vicar Street this June.
