Hold onto your sides, they just might split... After a massively successful outing last year, Comedy Showhouse returns to Dublin's Project Arts Centre for six nights from Monday May 29th, presenting a six-day festival of radio comedy, showcasing an array of homegrown talent.

This year's Comedy Showhouse line-up features the cream of Ireland's current comedy crop - we're talking the likes of (cue deep breath) Fred Cooke, Caitriona Ennis, Tara Flynn, Rose Henderson, Sean Hughes, Chris Kent, Fiona Looney, Katherine Lynch, Andrew Maxwell, Colum McDonnell, Barry Murphy, Colin Murphy, Stefanie Preissner, Deirdre O’Kane, Colm O’Regan, Owen Roe, Joe Rooney, Karl Spain, Alison Spittle, Eleanor Tiernan, Brona C. Titley, Paul Tylak, Paul Woodful and more.

Produced by Sideline Productions, all the Comedy Showcase presentations are recorded in front of a live audience in Dublin’s Project Arts Centre, and broadcast during the summer on RTÉ Radio 1.You can get (rather reasonably priced) tickets for all the shows here.

The opening night of Comedy Showhouse features two brand-new editions of the award winning show. Cork-born writer (Bolloxology, Irish Mammy) and comedian Colm O'Regan (with comics Tara Flynn & Paul Tylak, plus special guests) explores how the Irish use, abuse and amuse ourselves with the English language in our everyday lives. This time out, Colm wants a word about food and parenting...

The World Premiere of new comedy panel series Hypothetical is presented by comedy legend Barry Murphy (Apres Match, Irish Pictorial Weekly). Barry is joined by special guests Joe Rooney (Killinascully, Fr Ted); Colum McDonnell (Irish Pictorial Weekly, Brigid & Eamon), Tara Flynn (actor and comic) & Chris Kent (London-based, Cork born stand-up & writer). If you like smart and funny panel performances packed with inspired improv & crafted jokes, then this is for you. WEDNESDAY May 31st @ 6pm – WAITING

The World Premiere of a new sketch comedy show from award-winning writer Fiona Looney (Dandelions, Callan’s Kicks).  All the sketches are set in ‘a waiting situation’ (ante natal, funeral home, book signing etc) and most are based upon real life conversations picked up by the writer on her travels. The stellar cast includes Caitriona Ennis, Rose Henderson and the mighty Deirdre O’Kane.

THURSDAY June 1st @ 6pm – HAHA LAND!

Join host Paddy Cullivan (Late Late Show band leader and Camembert Quartet frontman) exploring melody and laughs with comedy stars Fred Cooke (The Tommy Tiernan TV Show), Tara Flynn (Ex Nuala) & Paul Woodful (AKA Ding Dong Denny O’Reilly). Warning – there may be live banter AND songs.

THURSDAY June 1st - SATURDAY June 3rd @ 8pm – DON’T QUOTE ME!

FRIDAY June 2nd @ 6pm – FUNNY GIRLS

Women are doing it for themselves – the new queens of Irish Comedy! All great comedy starts with the script – so if you (male or female) have an ambition to write comedy, then this show is for you. Host Katherine Lynch (Dancing with the Stars/Wagon’s Den) explores the secrets of writing comedy for stage, radio & screen with Stefanie Preissner (RTE’s Can’t Cope Won’t Cope); Brona C. Titley (Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats) and Alison Spittle (Brendan O’Connor’s Cutting Edge & her own new RTÉ Two series).
