This year, the award is sponsored by The INEC Killarney, with the winning artist receiving the opportunity to appear at one or both of the music festivals organised each year by The INEC.
“New albums are the lifeblood of trad music, be they new compositions or reworkings of ancient songs which might otherwise disappear," said INEC Managing Director of The Patrick O’Donohue. "We use events like Folkfest and The Gathering to showcase the very best in trad music, and are keen to support this industry in any way we can.”
