Last month, the 18th annual IDI Design Awards ceremony was held at Dublin's The Marker Hotel.
The IDI Irish Design Awards recognise, celebrate and promote exemplary design vision in Ireland, with DESIGN:RISING chosen as the theme for 2016.
Now in its 18th year, the annual IDI Irish Design Awards recognise outstanding work across a broad range of design disciplines. Key winners this year included graphic design studio, WorkGroup, for Logo Design and Website Design; Hong Kong-based designer and architect, Donn Holohan, whose Wind and Rain Bridge won in the Built Structures, Sustainable Design and Overseas Designer categories; and the Science Gallery which won the Collaborative Award for its SEEING exhibition. Other winners included Rebecca Marsden for Clothing Design, Joseph Walsh for Craft and Elements of Action for Domestic Interiors.
The Grand Prix was awarded to Llaura McGee from Dreamfeel, an emerging video game designer whose game, If Found Please Return, was highly praised by the judges for its interesting and immersive techniques. Irish design’s highest honour, the IDI President’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement, went to Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects.
