Eirtakon is the largest and longest-running anime (Japanese animation) and manga convention in Ireland, staged annually by a dedicated volunteer committee from the DCU Anime & Manga Society. This year's event - the final Eirtakon, as the organizers are calling it a day - packed out the Conference Centre at Dublin's Croke Park for a weekend-long celebration of all things Japanese. As ever, Ireland's passion for cosplay was on display, with punters dressing up as their favourite characters from anime and pop culture in general, with a cameo appearance from the U.S. President Elect.
Photographer Anthony O'Connor captured the action from the floor - click (or swipe) on the gallery above and see how many characters you recognize.
*For the uninitiated, kawaii (in the context of Japanese popular culture) translates as cute.
