Acclaimed singer-songwriter David Kitt has announced the release of his eagerly-anticipated new album, entitled Yous, with a Dublin live date set for The Sugar Club on November 10th, followed by a national tour through November and December.
It's been over seven years since the release of Kitt's last record, The Nightsaver; in that time he's released several EP’s and remixes for the likes of the XX and Mano Le Tough under his New Jackson moniker, and contributed to two albums by Tindersticks, while touring extensively as a session musician and producer working for the likes of David Gray and Lisa O’Neill.
Yous was recorded at home with a blend of electronics, samples and live instrumentation and the rest recorded live to tape in Inchicore with Kitt on guitar, accompanied by Margie Jean Lewis (vocals and violin).
Kitt's home-recorded debut album Small Moments was acclaimed upon its release in 2000; its follow-up, The Big Romance, went double platinum in Ireland, and in 2003 Square One again topped the Irish album charts. In more recent years, Kitt has fully embraced the DIY approach to music-making, self-releasing 2009's The Nightsaver while remaining a fixture on the live circuit.
Yous will be released digitally on January 1st 2017, with a vinyl release planned for Record Store Day in April 2017. There will be a special printed album cover for sale at the November show, complete with a download code for a special mini album of out-takes and acoustic recordings of older Kitt songs.
