A new comedy caper about the 1916 Rising starring Pat Shortt is set to hit cinemas in Ireland in October.
The new movie from the team behind Man About Dog and The Stag tells the story of Harry Hambridge, a down on his luck former entertainer living in London.
After returning to Ireland to bury his father, he discovers that his late Grandfather was one of the men who raised the tricolour over the GPO during the 1916 Rising.
Harry and a motley crew of pals then set about retrieving the flag, which is now a war-trophy hanging upside down in an army barracks in London. A heist is conceived and naturally the whole enterprise turns into a caper of epic comic proportions as they attempt to get the flag back to Ireland in time for the commemorations.
Pat recently told RTÉ that himself and the other cast including Moe Dunford, Ruth Bradley and Brian Gleeson had great craic filming the movie.
"It was great fun making it - a huge amount of stunts. I'm really looking forward to it coming out", he said.
"It's the same crew that a film a few years back, Man About Dog, and that was a very funny movie. This is a similar type of energy....Robert Walpole (Producer) and Treasure Films, they put the film together with me in mind, based on characters I've done in the past and they've put an amazing cast around it."
The film is written by well-known playwright and screenwriter Eugene O'Brien who's best known for his award winning play, Eden, and the RTÉ series, Pure Mule and is due to go on release on October 14th.
