This July, you can help support cancer patients and their families across the country by taking on the Irish Cancer Society's Marathon in a Month, proudly supported by ALDI.
Walk, run, cycle or swim the 42km distance over a day, week or throughout the whole month of July. You can do it at your own speed and in your own time, from your back garden or at your local park – wherever works for you! It’s your marathon, your way.

When you register for Marathon in a Month, you will automatically get an online fundraising page. Once you have your page, you can set your fundraising target, tell your story, share updates with family and friends, and monitor your kilometres along the way.
Funds raised will support life changing cancer research and provide essential support services for people living with cancer and their families.
Why your donations matter
The Irish Cancer Society typically receives only 3% of income from the Government, so it is thanks to the generosity of their wonderful donors, fundraisers and volunteers that they are able to provide services and support to ensure nobody in Ireland has to face cancer alone.
Donations fund cancer research and support services for people affected by cancer throughout Ireland. This helps vital cancer services, such as the support line, night nursing services, counselling services, daffodil centres and volunteer driver services. The society has also invested more than €30 million in cancer research over the last ten years, funding over 100 cancer researchers each year across Ireland.
In 2021, Rebecca Cummins from County Tipperary took part in Marathon in a Month in memory of her mam, Anne Marie.
Rebecca says "I wanted to give back to the Irish Cancer Society for all the support they gave to my mam and our whole family over the years. Without the help of the Irish Cancer Society and the Night Nurses we wouldn't have been able to have mam home with us in her final weeks. It is something I’ll be forever grateful for and the memories of having mam home with us will last a life time.
"I would urge anyone especially young people like myself who lose a parent at such a young age to take the pain and upset and turn it into something meaningful. For me it was my fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society. It is something I will always be so proud of and I know my mam was looking down smiling throughout."
