Today, there’s little adventure in most mid-range road trips. Your standard commutes to the office, or the two-hour trips to the relatives which are long and tiring on both the car and the driver. The most exciting decision you’ll make will centre on which petrol station to buy your coffee from. But wait, it doesn’t have to be this way. There is an antidote to the M7 road to hell, and all it takes is a little planning and a bit of wanderlust. Add a route and a vehicle that exists outside of the modern commuting norm, and you’re onto a winner.
A car with adaptability is needed, something that will make the miles pass with a sense of occasion and still fit your bags, snacks and sports gear. And then a route that will result in an experience that you want to share with everyone you meet along the way.
Meet Max and Marcus who, after putting in a full week’s work at the office, want nothing more than to let loose and head off where the hills are vast and the adventures plenty. And what better to have on hand than the Toyota C-HR crossover to get those adventures rolling. These road trip buds plotted and planned until their adventures could come together with the right car to do it in.
The Plot.
Adventure. A week to get out of that stuffy office and cram in as much adventure as humanly possible
The Plan.
Find the right car and the best roads to get lost in.
The Toyota C-HR is the chariot, the perfect tool for the blacktop on which Max and Marcus plan their memorable road trip. Compromises? There are none. This car has the agility of a dynamic hatchback with the confidence of an SUV. It segues from city to sea without ever knowing it’s size but completely understanding its capability.
Perfect. Now the route. Oh, the route is legendary, a trip up the East coast from Dublin, through the mountains of Mourne and swiftly across Game of Thrones country keeping an eye out for those sneaky Lannisters. With a minimum of motorway slogging it’s out to Bundoran for some surfing, not before having taken in everything that’s already in their wake.
Switching on the tailor made JBL audio system (8 channels with 576 watts) Spotify playlists at the ready, and it’s away to Ashford Castle for a bit of history and appreciation, to balance out all of the available on-board technology. The agility of the dynamic SUV and its high-riding height allow for great views along the way. The cabin is pure serenity in a world that is constantly moving. And when you have precious family cargo on-board, the Toyota Safety Sense technologies are on-hand to put the tribe at ease when travelling. The cruise control taking the strain during the longer motorway stints and Road Sign Assist lets the driver know the limits for the ever changing roads on which they’re travelling.
A road trip around Ireland wouldn’t be complete without a stop off at the Cliffs of Moher, the rugged handsomeness of the views matching the sculpted lines of the Toyota C-HR. Rock solid performance for days is on tap from the 1.8-litre Hybrid automatic engine. So far the trip has encompassed the very tip of Ireland and now to Mizen Head to complete the length of the land. A quick blast across the breadth of the country guarantees a kiss from the Blarney stone. And as our intrepid adventurers reach the end of a magnificent trek across the length and breadth of the best of what Ireland has to offer, in what could only be described as the perfect car for the job, they look back with fond memories while also looking forward to the adventures yet to come.
This Toyota C-HR is a beautifully sculpted 5-door crossover that allows you to experience your perfect flow through life, whether it be a family weekend of adventures or blasting off for a week across the most stunning scenery the planet has to offer.
