For many people trying to eat healthier,  people think this means no more takeaways. Pffft, we say. And double pffft. We’ve teamed up with wellness journalist Caroline Foran to show that watching your weight and a tasty takeaway are not mutually exclusive.

Not long ago, the idea of a takeaway, delivered to your door, was reserved only for lazy Friday nights when your week's worth of health efforts began to wane and you had to give yourself that guilt-free 'go on, you deserve it' permission to indulge. The thing is, when our only options were pizza or a three-in-one, we associated takeout with eating poorly. Today with Just Eat, however, home delivery in Ireland has caught up with our collective need for healthier choices; ordering healthy food is finally an option.

Sure, I'll still tuck into a tantalising Thai and a glass (or three) of wine when I feel like kicking back (and that is often), but it's fantastic to know that you can order really healthy options for when you need that too. It takes the hassle out of keeping everything in moderation, making it less likely that I'll dive into the nearest convenience food with no nutritional value whatsoever. When the work week is hectic, and you're struggling to keep up with your social calendar, it's a weight off your shoulders to know you can open the app and order something wholesome and nutritious from some of your favourite nearby restaurants, saving you time and all of that unwanted clean-up. I think it's time we stopped feeling guilty about it.

What I enjoy most about it is the variety; there are over thirty cuisine options on Just-Eat. As for some of my favourites? When I'm trying to be good, I might go for a tasty plate of Sakura Sushi or falafel, but you can go even healthier if that's what you fancy. Setting my location to Rathmines in Dublin, for example, I have the option of ordering something full of goodness from Paleo Meal Deliveries, via Just Eat, some gorgeous Thai fishcakes from Piply or even some fresh cold press juices from The Superfood Takeaway. With so many different types of healthy foods at the tap of a button, ensuring you're getting the right nutrition with plenty of balance has never been easier.

On the subject of 'balance', at the same time, we're all humans with varying palettes, and sometimes, you'll just want something tastier than quinoa. You'll want to prioritise flavour over food choices based on nutritional value, and so you should; life is short! For that, which I'll enjoy on weekends, you are again, spoiled for choice. Thankfully, it's no longer just a toss-up between the chipper and the local Chinese; you can get incredible Italian from reputable eateries, or fantastic Irish food from some of our country's top restaurants. The only trouble you'll have is choosing from over 1,900 restaurants. Make life easier by selecting your preferred cuisine first!
