A dull day on Friday with a band of rain gradually spreading across the country from the southwest through the morning and afternoon, becoming patchier as it does. A clearance to scattered showers will follow into Munster in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate southeast winds, veering westerly behind the rain.

Overview: Mixed conditions continuing with spells of rain, showers and some sunny spells forecast for the weekend and into next week. It will be mild for the time of year too. Friday night: There is uncertainty in the forecast detail for Friday night. Current indications are that it will start off cloudy and misty with patchy rain and drizzle becoming mainly confined to Ulster early on. Clearer conditions will develop from the south through the night. However, further rain, possibly heavy at times, may push into the southwest later on. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 11 degrees with mostly light to moderate southerly winds. Saturday: There remains uncertainty in the forecast detail for Saturday. Current indications are for a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with the best of the sunny spells over the northern half of the country and the showers, some of which may be heavy, most frequent over the southern half. Cloud will start to build from the southwest in the evening, with a band of rain reaching the southwest by nightfall. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, with mostly light to moderate southeasterly winds. Saturday night: Starting off mostly dry, but cloud will spread across the country from the southwest, followed by a band of rain moving northeastwards. As the rain clears it will be followed by drier conditions, before further rain moves into the southwest towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees, with mostly moderate winds veering southwesterly as the rain clears. Sunday: Current indications are that the day will start off cloudy with bands of persistent rain moving northeastwards across the country. As these clear, they will be followed by sunny spells and well scattered showers. However, there is uncertainty in the timing of the clearance. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with light to moderate southwesterly winds. Monday: Starting off mostly dry with long sunny spells. Scattered showers, some of which may be heavy, will mainly affect the west and southwest at first, but will spread to other areas in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees, with light to moderate southeasterly winds. Further outlook: Looking forwards ahead, there is uncertainty in the detail, but low pressure will continue dominating our weather, bringing further spells of rain into next week. It will remain relatively mild though.
