Every parent wants their child to do well at school. But what is life like in modern Ireland for a child deemed to be 'gifted'?
This compelling and poignant documentary tells the stories of some of our most gifted children and their families. It's a programme that provides an honest and revealing insight into the lives of very special children as they cope with the highs and lows of being 'different'.
Whilst many children may fall into the bracket of 'high achievers', the term gifted is set aside for the top 5% - the children for whom normal schooling often just isn't enough. In Ireland some such children can be found at the Irish Centre for Talented Youth where six year olds can take courses in subjects such as forensic science, engineering, archaeology and novel-writing.
This, however, is not the story of pushy parents and know-it-all kids. What emerges is an honest and revealing insight into the lives of very special children as they cope with the highs and lows of being 'different', of parents and children from different backgrounds facing very different challenges.
