Traffic

ROAD CONDITIONS

A Status Yellow Rainfall Warning has been issued by Met Eireann for all of Connacht as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal and Longford valid from now until 7am tomorrow morning (22nd)

If driving in wet conditions reduce you're speed and leave plenty of space between you and the car in front.  

TIPPERARY/OFFALY: Gardai report very poor driving conditions on the M7 between J22 Roscrea and J27 Birdhill due to surface water on the route. Drive with extreme care.

NATIONAL TRAFFIC

TIPPERARY/OFFALY: The M7 southbound is closed between J22 Roscrea and J23 Moneygall as Gardai deal with a crash. Driving conditions are poor along this stretch due to surface water on the route, so care is advised.

LOUTH: Gardai are dealing with an incident on Racecourse Rd in Dundalk. As a result, traffic is very slow in the area, including both ways on the Newry Rd (R132) and heading south towards the town on the nearby N52 route.

LIMERICK: The N21 is busy both ways heading into Adare.

CORK: There are some eastbound delays on the N25 into Castlemartyr.

KERRY: In Tralee, Castle St in the town centre remains closed until further notice for repairs to a damaged building.

WEXFORD: The M11 motorway extension between Gorey and Enniscorthy is now open to traffic. A short extension to the N80, to provide access to the M11 from the Scarawalsh R/A, has also opened. The second new Enniscorthy bypass, the N30 extension to the west of the town, will follow in the coming weeks.

KILDARE: Bear in mind that the M7 southbound will be closed for overnight works between J11 the M9 and J12 Newbridge tonight (21st). The closure will be in place from 9pm today until 6:30am tomorrow (22nd). Diversions will be signposted.

DUBLIN TRAFFIC

The  inbound delays on the  Cabra Rd have eased.

It's moving better now around the Drumcondra area and on surrounding routes with a double-header underway at Croke Park (See EVENTS below).

No unusual delays in the city centre.

The M50 is moving well in both directions.

College Green and Dame St (between College Green and George's St) will be closed to traffic to facilitate College Green Summer Events until 7pm today (21st). 

CITY TRAFFIC

GALWAY:

It's heavy towards the city on Whitestrand Rd, onto Father Griffin Rd, where delays continue over Wolfe Tone Bridge to Merchants Rd.

Traffic is slow too outbound on the Barna Rd (R336) towards Silverstrand.

Traffic is moving well in Galway City. 

WATERFORD:

It's busy inbound on Newtown Rd from The People's Park to The Mall, where it's slow too on Parnell St, and delays continue through to the Clock Tower on the quay.

Traffic is light in Waterford City. 

CORK:

There are no major delays in Cork City. 

LIMERICK:

Traffic is moving well in Limerick City.

TRAVEL

IRISH RAIL: Pearse and Tara St Stations will be closed for engineering works today (21st).

DART services will be suspended between Connolly & Grand Canal Dock as a result.

EVENTS 

CAVAN: The Bailieborough Mid Summer Festival takes place today (21st). Main St (R165) in Bailieborough will close from 10am to 6:30pm. Expect busier traffic around the town over the weekend.

CLARE: Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan continues in Ennis until later today (21st). To facilitate the festival, O'Connell St and O'Connell Square is now closed until 2am tomorrow morning (22nd).

DUBLIN: Today (21st), a double header takes place in Croke Park as part of the All-Ireland SFC quarter-final phase 2. Mayo take on Meath at 2pm and Kerry take on Donegal at 4pm. A full Garda cordon will be in place two hours prior to stiles opening time, and one-hour post event to enable patrons to arrive and depart safely. Long delays can be expected in Drumcondra and the surrounding areas before and after the matches. Heavy traffic may also be experienced through the M7 roadworks at Naas (between J8 Johnstown and J11 M9), with the majority of Kerry supporters likely to take that route.

When travelling north on the M7, the new exit J10 Naas South is approx. 500m earlier than the old exit. Leaving Dublin southbound on the M7, note that approaching J10 there are changes to the lane layout. Expect some delays between J9 Naas North and J10 as motorists get used to the changes.

DONEGAL: The Churchill Fair continues today (21st). To facilitate events, the road through Churchill (R251) will close from midday to 9pm.

KILDARE: The Curragh Oaks takes place at The Curragh Racecourse today (21st). Today's races will take place between 1:45pm and 5:50pm.

Trains from Dublin (Heuston), Waterford, Cork, Tralee, Limerick, Galway and Westport serve Kildare and Newbridge stations, where free shuttle buses will bring patrons to the racecourse. If travelling by car, there may be some delays exiting the M7 at J12 Newbridge. Free parking is available at the racecourse.

MONAGHAN: The Monaghan Town Country Music Festival is taking place until later today (21st). A number of roads in the town will be closed from 2:30pm to 11:30pm today. These include Glaslough St, Dublin St, Market St, Church Square, The Diamond and Mill St (between North Rd and Church Square). The rest of Mill St will be closed between Hill St and North Rd from 6:30pm to 12:30am. Expect busier traffic around the town over the weekend.

WICKLOW: KnockanStockan Festival continues at Lacken, Blessington Lakes today (21st). The festival site is less than 15 minutes from Blessington. The festival car park is located at Lacken Village.  A shuttle bus will operate between there and the site. Festival buses will be running from Dublin City at Custom House Quay to the festival on Saturday. Return buses will operate on Sunday and Monday. A shuttle bus service will also operate to and from Blessington (Supervalu Car Park) throughout the weekend.

WICKLOW: Main St (R772) in Arklow will be closed from Bridge St to the St Mary’s Rd jct today (21st) from 1pm to 12am to facilitate the Arklow Seabreeze Festival.

ROADWORKS

ULSTER

CAVAN: A stop/go system and rolling road closures will be in place on the N87 between Bawnboy and Swanlinbar until approx. Tues 6th Aug, between 9:15am and 6pm each day. Diversions will be signposted.

CAVAN: A stop/go system will be in place for overnight works on the N87 at Swanlinbar until Mon 22nd July from 8pm to 5am the following morning.

DONEGAL: From today (21st) to Fri 26th July, the N56 Carnmore Rd in Dungloe will close overnight from 10pm to 7am. The closure will be in place from the supermarket at the local Chapel Rd jct to its junction with Main St (R259). Diversions will be in place. 

DONEGAL: Rolling works are in place on the N13 on the stretch between the Dry Arch R/A at Letterkenny and the turn-off for Ballyeeghan, east of Manorcunningham. The works will be in place until late November, with a stop/go system in place at times.

DONEGAL: Temporary traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 50kmph remain in place on the N56 north of Glenties between Letterilly and Kilkenny until approx. the end of August.

DONEGAL: A stop/go system is in place for works on the N56 on the Gweedore side of Dungloe until Fri 26th July.

MONAGHAN: A temporary road layout is in place on the N2 at the bridge just north of the Coolshannagh R/A in Monaghan Town, until approx. July 2020. There is a reduced speed limit of 30kmph over the bridge.

MONAGHAN: Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N2 south of Emyvale, near Corracrin National School, along with a reduced speed limit of 50kmph, until approx. October.

MONAGHAN: The Ballybay/Shercock Rd (R162) will be closed just south of Ballybay as far as it is junction with the Cootehill Rd (R192) from 8am until 6pm each day until the end of November.

LEINSTER

DUBLIN: College Green and Dame St (between College Green and George's St) will be closed to traffic to facilitate College Green Summer Events until 7pm today (21st). 

CARLOW: Works will be in place on the N80 on the Kildavin side of Bunclody until Fri 25th Oct.

KILDARE: Works are continuing on the M7 between J8 Johnstown and J11 M9: three lanes of traffic are now open in both directions between J8 Johnstown and J10 Naas South but a revised speed limit of 80kmph is in place between these junctions. A speed limit of 60kmph is still in place for the two lanes of traffic between J10 Naas South and J11 the M9.

LAOIS: Works have finished ahead of schedule on the M7 both ways between J19 M8 and J21 Borris-in-Ossory: the lane restrictions and reduced speed limit there have now been lifted.

LAOIS: The Stradbally/Athy Rd (R428) will be closed for works approx. 2km outside Stradbally today (21st). Diversions will be in place. 

KILKENNY: Lane closures and a stop/go system will be in place for works on the N25 at Glenmore, on the Waterford City side of New Ross until approx. the end of July.

LONGFORD: Works will be taking place on the Newtown Cashel/Moydow Rd (R398). The road will be closed between Derryhaun cross and Brickeens Cross. Diversions will be in place.

LOUTH: Church St and Clanbrassil St in Dundalk (R132) have been made one-way southbound until the end of November. Northbound traffic will be diverted via The Long Walk and The Laurels.

MEATH: Until 6am on Mon 22nd July,  the N2 will be closed for works at Primatestown, between its junction with the Curragha Rd (R155) and its junction with the Duleek Rd (R152). Alternative routes will be signposted.

MEATH: Railway St (R161) in Navan will close for works between the Solstice R/A and the Brew's Hill/Trimgate St jcts until 10pm Sun 25th Aug.

WESTMEATH: Temporary traffic lights will be in place for works on the N52 between Mullingar and Delvin until further notice approx. between 7am and 7pm each day.

WICKLOW: A stop/go system will be in place for works at varying locations along the N81 between Hollywood and Baltinglass until Fri 26th July. 

WICKLOW: The Glenealy Rd in Rathnew (R772) will be closed for works between St Patrick’s Terrace and the Arklow turn-off until Fri 16th Aug. Diversion signs will be in place.

WEXFORD: Works will be in place on the N11 at Oilgate until Wed 31st July between the hours of 8am and 6pm. 

WEXFORD: A stop/go system will be in place on the N25 at the Clonard Rd jct between Maldron R/A and Whitford R/A for overnight works between 8pm and 6am until further notice.

MUNSTER

CORK: Works are taking place on the N71 just outside Rosscarbery on the Skibbereen side until Fri 2nd Aug. Delays can be expected

CORK: The Buttevant/Mitchelstown Rd (R522) will be closed for works near Doneraile, between Turnpike Cross and Clogher Cross, until 6pm on Fri 13th Sept.

CORK: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N71 near Rigsdale, on the Inishannon side of Halfway, between 8am and 6pm each day until Fri 2nd Aug.

KERRY: A stop/go system is in place on the N72 at Barraduff until Fri 2nd Aug. 

KERRY: Works will be in place on the N69 near Six Crosses, south of Listowel, until approx. the end of August.

KERRY: The Tralee/Ballyduff Rd (R556) is closed for works approx. half way between the two towns until further notice.

LIMERICK: Reduced speed limits are in place for works on the N21 between Newcastle West and Abbeyfeale near Templeglantine in Limerick until approx. the end of July.

LIMERICK: Sheares St, Sarsfield St and Lord Edward St (R512) in Kilmallock will be closed until Mon 30th September between 8am and 6pm each day. 

LIMERICK: A section of Main St (R513) in Caherconlish will be closed for works until 6pm on Fri 30th Aug

TIPPERARY: Works are in place on N24 at Davitt St in Tipperary Town until approx. the end of September. Expect delays.

TIPPERARY: A stop/go system is in place for works on the N52 in Borrisokane Town until approx. Nov 2019.

WATERFORD: There will be a stop/go system in place on the N25 for works between Lemybrien and Pike Hill  until approx. the end of September, from 7am to 7pm each day.

GALWAY: A stop/go system is in place on the N83 for works about halfway between Tuam and Dunmore until approx. the end of November.

GALWAY: Works are in place on the N67 west of Kinvarra, near the Clare county bounds, until further notice. 

MAYO: Works will take place on the N17 at Ballindine until Tues 3rd Sept. Expect delays.

MAYO: Temporary traffic lights are in place for works on the N59 at Kilmeena, approx. 4km from Westport on the Newport side, until approx. December.

MAYO: A stop/go system is in place for works on the N17 at Charlestown until further notice. 

MAYO: Works are in place on the N60 just outside Balla on the Castlebar side until approx. December.

ROSCOMMON/LEITRIM: Works will be in place on the N4 in Carrick-On-Shannon between the bridge and the Drishoge R/A until Fri 2nd Aug. From Mon 22nd July to Fri 2nd Aug works will change from evening to daytime works, in place from 5am until 4pm each day.

ROSCOMMON: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N5 in Tulsk until Sat 21st Sept.

SLIGO: Temporary traffic lights will be in place for works on the N17 approx. halfway between Collooney and Tobercurry until approx. mid-August. 

SLIGO: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph is in place for works on the N4 south of the Tobar Bhríde R/A on the Roscommon side of Collooney until June 2021.

ROSCOMMON/LEITRIM: Works will be in place on the N4 in Carrick-On-Shannon between the bridge and the Drishoge R/A until Fri 2nd Aug. From Mon 22nd July to Fri 2nd Aug works will change from evening to daytime works, in place from 5am until 4pm each day.

ROSCOMMON: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N5 in Tulsk until Sat 21st Sept.

SLIGO: Temporary traffic lights will be in place for works on the N17 approx. halfway between Collooney and Tobercurry until approx. mid-August. 

SLIGO: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph is in place for works on the N4 south of the Tobar Bhríde R/A on the Roscommon side of Collooney until June 2021.
