COVID-19 TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

Level 5 travel restrictions are now in place as the government's Living with Covid-19 plan is applied nationwide until Tues 1st Dec. 

You should stay within 5km of your home, except to travel for essential reasons. For more see our blog post.

ROAD CONDITIONS

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow Fog Warning for Limerick, Tipperary, Cork and Waterford until 10am this morning (27th).

Dense fog is forecasted in these areas. Use fog lights when necessary, but remember to switch them off afterwards so you don’t dazzle other drivers.

NATIONAL TRAFFIC 

SLIGO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N15 north of Drumcliff between Cashelgarran and Grange until Thurs 31st Dec.

KERRY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N69 between Listowel and Tarbert near Tarmon until Wed 2nd Dec, 8am to 6pm each day. Temporary traffic lights will be in place outside of these hours. Some delays can be expected.

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place at Coote St in Portlaoise on the N80 until today (27th), 8am to 6pm.

DUBLIN TRAFFIC 

Remember to stay within 5km of home, unless travelling for essential reasons. Watch out for changes to road layouts in Dublin city centre and, if driving, be extra mindful of pedestrians and cyclists who may need more room for physical distancing.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

For those reliant on public transport for an essential journey, you are now required by law to wear a face covering and it’s advisable to pay your fare through contactless methods. Most operators have reduced capacity (25%) and revised timetables in place, so make sure to check their websites before you set out.

TIMETABLE INFO:

IRISH RAIL: Engineering works will take place between Portlaoise and Thurles, with service alterations and bus transfers in place until Fri 4th Dec.

BUS ÉIREANN: Bus Éireann have added additional services to Routes 450 Louisburgh/Dooagh, 423 Clifden/Westport, 168 Dundalk/Drogheda, and Route 275 Tralee/Dingle. For more information you can visit their website.

All services between Dublin and Belfast will be operated exclusively by Translink. There will be timetable changes to routes X1 and X5 as a result. See here for more details.

Otherwise, normal weekday, Saturday and Sunday timetables are now in operation with some amendments in place. You can plan your journey on the Bus Éireann website here.

GO AHEAD: Roadworks are taking place on Corduff Rd in Ballycoolin until today (27th) with diversions in place on Go Ahead routes 236 and 238 as a result. See here for more.

Services are running to the normal a Monday to Friday schedule. See the Go Ahead website for more information.

DUBLIN BUS: Diversions will be in place on Dublin Bus routes 40b and 40d due to roadworks taking place in Finglas Village until Mon 14th Dec.

Otherwise, Dublin Bus is operating to a normal Monday to Friday timetable. There are, however, exceptions to some routes and Xpresso services. See the Dublin Bus website for more.

LUAS: Services are running to a normal timetable on both Luas lines.

ROADWORKS 

ULSTER

DONEGAL: A stop/go system is in place for works on the N15 at Barnesmore Gap, just north of Donegal Town, until Fri 18th Dec from 7am to 7pm each day.

DONEGAL: Works are taking place on the N56 at Kilmacrenan until approx. late November. A stop/go system will be in place on weekdays from 8am to 7pm, with temporary traffic lights in place outside of those hours.

DONEGAL: A reduced speed limit of 50kmph remains in place for works on the N56 north of Glenties between Letterilly and Kilkenny until approx. 2021. 

DONEGAL: Until Fri 11th Dec, the Frosses Rd (R262) will be closed for works at its junction with the N56 in Inver. Diversions will be in place via the local Ardraghey/Ardara Rd, but HGVs should travel via Killybegs on the N56. On icy days, all traffic is advised to use the Killybegs route.

LEINSTER

CARLOW: A road closure will be in place for works on the Bagenalstown/Kildavin Rd (R724) at the local turn off in Fenagh until Thurs 21st Jan 2021. Diversions will be in place.

DUBLIN: For the duration of the Covid-19 Level 5 restrictions (Saturdays and Sundays only), the perimeter side gates of the Phoenix Park will close to vehicular traffic. The closures will affect the following gates: Ashtown Gate, Cabra Gate, NCR Gate, Islandbridge Gate, Chapelizod Gate, Knockmaroon Gate. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained at all gates. Vehicular traffic will be maintained through Castleknock and Parkgate St entrances over each of the weekends.

DUBLIN: In Dundrum Village, a new one-way traffic system will be in place on Main St, Sandyford Rd and Kilmacud Rd Upr to provide more space for pedestrians and cyclists and to facilitate public amenity improvements. As a result, there will be diversions in place for bus services and vehicular traffic until further notice.

DUBLIN: There are some changes to road layouts in the Grangegorman area: Grangegorman Lwr is now only open to pedestrians and cyclists as a through-route, while motor vehicles may only use it for local access and will otherwise be diverted. Turning restrictions have also been put in place on the NCR and North Brunswick St. Take extra care if driving in the area and watch out for new signage.

DUBLIN: There are a number of changes to the road layout along the coastal route in Dun Laoghaire.  A new two-way cycle lane is in operation along most of the route between Newtown Ave in Blackrock and Sandycove Ave. Vehicular traffic is now one-way (towards Blackrock) on a stretch of Queen’s Rd between the Park Rd and the Lexicon, and again from the Old Dunleary Rd as far as Seapoint Ave.  There’s also a stretch that’s now one-way towards Sandycove, from Windsor Terrace out to Sandycove Ave West. Watch out for new signage in the area.

KILDARE: Athgarvan Rd in Newbridge will be closed for works until Tues 1st Dec. Local access will be maintained. Diversions will be in place.

KILDARE: In Naas, the Newbridge Rd (R445) and Jigginstown Green (R409) will close for works at their junctions with each other until today (27th). Diversions will be signposted.

KILKENNY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N10, south of Kilkenny City, between Danesfort and the M9 jct today (27th).

KILKENNY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N76 just south of the Callan Rd R/A in Kilkenny City until further notice.

KILKENNY: A new road layout is in place in Freshford on Bohergloss St (part of the Ballyragget Rd (R694)). Traffic coming in from the Ballyragget side will have to yield to oncoming traffic at the bridge. Take care and watch out for new signage.

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N80 just outside Mountmellick on the Tullamore side from 7am today (27th) until 7pm on Fri 4th Dec.

LAOIS: Works will take place on the N80, north of Carlow Town, through Arles village, until 6pm Fri 4th Dec.

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place for works outside Portlaoise on the N80 Mountmellick Rd, just off the roundabout at Gandon Court from 8am to 6pm until today  (27th).

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place at Coote St in Portlaoise on the N80 until today (27th), 8am to 6pm.

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N80 Stradbally Rd just outside Portlaoise near the Bloomfield R/A until today (27th), 8am to 6pm.

LONGFORD: Harbour Row in Longford Town, part of the N63, will be temporarily one-way for works until Fri 4th Dec. Traffic leaving the town will be diverted via Harbour View and the industrial estate.

LONGFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for rolling works along the N63 in Longford Town from Market Square out to the roundabout on the Athlone Rd until December.

LOUTH: Works are continuing on the N2 between Collon and Ardee until today (27th).

MEATH: A stop/go system will be in place on the N51 for works from 3km west of Slane until further notice.

MEATH: Works are in place in Navan on the Kentstown Rd (R153) at the Metges Rd jct. Varying lane restrictions will be in place until further notice.

WESTMEATH: The N52 will be closed for works between Mullingar and Clonmellon until Monday (30th).

WEXFORD: Works will take place on the N11 between Ferrycarrig Bridge and the New Ross R/A from 8am to 6pm each day until February 2021. A stop/go system may be needed at times. 

WICKLOW: In Bray, Quinsborough Rd (R766) will close for works from midnight tonight (27th) to 8am Monday (30th). Use alternative routes.

WICKLOW: The N11 northbound will be closed for overnight works at J12 Newtownmountkennedy today (27th) from 10pm until 6am the following morning. Diversions will be in place via J13 Newcastle.

WICKLOW: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place for works on the N11 in both directions between J7 Bray South and J8 Kilmacanogue until approx. February 2021.

WICKLOW: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place for works on the N81 just south of Hollywood until Fri 19th March 2021.

MUNSTER

CLARE: The regional road between Kilbaha and Loophead Lighthouse (R487) will close for works until Fri 4th Dec. Local access will be maintained when possible.

CLARE: There will be a number of layout changes to roads in Ennis Town Centre from now until Wed 19th May 2021. The changes will be in place Mon to Sat from 8am to 6pm. This is to allow for social distancing practices in the town. Diversions will be signposted and parking will be affected as well.

CORK: A stop/go system will be in place for overnight works on the Lwr Glanmire Rd in Tivoli until today (27th), between 10pm and 5am the following morning.

CORK: There will be a stop/go system in place for works on Skehard Rd in Mahon until today (27th), between 9:30am and 4pm.

CORK: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N71 Cork Rd in Bandon from until today (27th), 8am to 6pm.

KERRY: A stop/go system will be in place on the N70 Ring of Kerry west of Parknasilla today (27th), 8am to 6pm.

KERRY: A stop/go system will be in place on the N70 just south of Tralee, near the turn-off for Caherleaheen NS until approx. Tues 22nd Dec.

KERRY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N69 between Listowel and Tarbert near Tarmon until Wed 2nd Dec, 8am to 6pm each day. Temporary traffic lights will be in place outside of these hours. Some delays can be expected.

KERRY: The Tralee/Ballyduff Rd (R556) is closed for works approx. halfway between the two towns.

KERRY: Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N71 between Kenmare and Glengarriff at Bonane until further notice due to storm damage to an embankment.

KERRY: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place on the N71 Ring of Kerry between Kenmare and Moll's Gap to facilitate works until Thurs 8th July 2021.

LIMERICK: Lane closures and a stop/go system will be in place for works on the N24 at Pallasgreen until today (27th), from 8am to 8pm.

TIPPERARY: The M8 northbound will close for works between J7 Cashel North and J6 Thurles from Monday (30th) to Wed 2nd Dec, 3pm each day to 9am the following morning. Diversions will be in place via the Horse and Jockey (R639) to re-join the motorway at J6.

TIPPERARY: The Cappawhite/Annacarty Rd (R505) will be closed for works at the turn-off for Donohill until today (27th) between 8am and 6pm. Diversions will be in place.

TIPPERARY: In Templemore, the N62 will close at Richmond Rd for works until Tues 1st Dec. Traffic will be diverted via The Mall and Barrack St.

TIPPERARY: Works will be in place just outside Templemore on the N62 Thurles Rd from 7am to 6pm until today (27th).

WATERFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N72 near Tallow Bridge (R634) until Wed 23rd Dec, 7am to 7pm each day.

WATERFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N25 in Dungarvan between the Coolagh Rd R/A and N72 jct until approx. Mon 7th Dec.

CONNACHT

GALWAY: Lane closures will be in place in Galway City on Quincentenary Bridge near the Upr Newcastle Rd jct from 9am to 6pm each day until today (27th). 

GALWAY: Temporary traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 50kmph are in place on the N67 just outside Kinvara on the Kilcolgan side until approx. June 2021.

GALWAY: Rolling works will be taking place along the N59 starting at Moycullen and moving west towards Letterfrack. These will be in place until further notice.

GALWAY: Works are taking place on the N59 on the Oughterard side of Maam Cross until early 2021.

GALWAY: Works take place on the Dublin Rd (R338) between the Martin R/A and the Ballybane Rd jct, nightly from 7:30pm to 3am the following morning until Fri 4th Dec.

GALWAY: Works and a stop/go system are in place on the N83 Tuam Rd at Two Mile Ditch until Sun 29th Nov. Expect delays

LEITRIM: Rolling works will be in place on the N4 east of Carrick-on-Shannon between Jamestown and the Mohill turn-off (R201) until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N60 on the Castlebar side of Breaffy until Fri 11th Dec.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place on the N58 between Ballyvary and Foxford until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place at various locations on the N60 for rolling roadworks between Balla and Claremorris until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N60 Breaffy Rd in Castlebar until further notice. 

MAYO: Works will be in place on the N59 just outside Newport on the Westport side until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N84 on the Castlebar side of Ballyhean until Mon 30th Nov.

Lane closures will be in place on the N4 northbound from Ballast Quay to Duck St, part of the N16, and on the southbound side from Duck St to Markievicz Rd (R870) until further notice.

KERRY: Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N71 between Kenmare and Glengarriff at Bonane until further notice due to storm damage to an embankment.

KERRY: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place on the N71 Ring of Kerry between Kenmare and Moll's Gap to facilitate works until Thurs 8th July 2021.

LIMERICK: Lane closures and a stop/go system will be in place for works on the N24 at Pallasgreen until today (27th), from 8am to 8pm.

TIPPERARY: The M8 northbound will close for works between J7 Cashel North and J6 Thurles from Monday (30th) to Wed 2nd Dec, 3pm each day to 9am the following morning. Diversions will be in place via the Horse and Jockey (R639) to re-join the motorway at J6.

TIPPERARY: The Cappawhite/Annacarty Rd (R505) will be closed for works at the turn-off for Donohill until today (27th) between 8am and 6pm. Diversions will be in place.

TIPPERARY: In Templemore, the N62 will close at Richmond Rd for works until Tues 1st Dec. Traffic will be diverted via The Mall and Barrack St.

TIPPERARY: Works will be in place just outside Templemore on the N62 Thurles Rd from 7am to 6pm until today (27th).

WATERFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N72 near Tallow Bridge (R634) until Wed 23rd Dec, 7am to 7pm each day.

WATERFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N25 in Dungarvan between the Coolagh Rd R/A and N72 jct until approx. Mon 7th Dec.

CONNACHT

GALWAY: Lane closures will be in place in Galway City on Quincentenary Bridge near the Upr Newcastle Rd jct from 9am to 6pm each day until today (27th). 

GALWAY: Temporary traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 50kmph are in place on the N67 just outside Kinvara on the Kilcolgan side until approx. June 2021.

GALWAY: Rolling works will be taking place along the N59 starting at Moycullen and moving west towards Letterfrack. These will be in place until further notice.

GALWAY: Works are taking place on the N59 on the Oughterard side of Maam Cross until early 2021.

GALWAY: Works take place on the Dublin Rd (R338) between the Martin R/A and the Ballybane Rd jct, nightly from 7:30pm to 3am the following morning until Fri 4th Dec.

GALWAY: Works and a stop/go system are in place on the N83 Tuam Rd at Two Mile Ditch until Sun 29th Nov. Expect delays

LEITRIM: Rolling works will be in place on the N4 east of Carrick-on-Shannon between Jamestown and the Mohill turn-off (R201) until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N60 on the Castlebar side of Breaffy until Fri 11th Dec.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place on the N58 between Ballyvary and Foxford until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place at various locations on the N60 for rolling roadworks between Balla and Claremorris until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N60 Breaffy Rd in Castlebar until further notice. 

MAYO: Works will be in place on the N59 just outside Newport on the Westport side until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N84 on the Castlebar side of Ballyhean until Mon 30th Nov.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N84 north of Shrule until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N17 between Kilkelly and Knock until further notice.

SLIGO/LEITRIM: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N16 on the Glencar side of Sligo Town until further notice.

SLIGO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N59 between Ballina and Culleens at Corbally until Mon 7th Dec.

SLIGO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N15 north of Drumcliff between Cashelgarran and Grange until Thurs 31st Dec.

SLIGO: Until August 2021, the N4 will be closed for a 3km stretch south of Collooney near the Tobar Bhríde R/A to facilitate works. Diversions will be signposted via a new road through the industrial estate.

SLIGO: Works are taking place in Sligo Town at the junction of the N4, N15 and N16 - there has been a change to the road layout for northbound traffic turning left onto the Rosses Point Rd (R291), and the N15 southbound is closed at this junction. Lane closures will be in place on the N4 northbound from Ballast Quay to Duck St, part of the N16, and on the southbound side from Duck St to Markievicz Rd (R870) until further notice.
