COVID-19 TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

Travel restrictions are now in effect for Dublin until Sat 10th Oct.

Only essential journeys should be made in Dublin at this time. Those living in Dublin are advised not to leave the county, except to travel for work, education or other essential reasons.

NATIONAL TRAFFIC

TIPPERARY/WATERFORD: The closure of the N24 will remain in place both ways until further notice between Kilsheelan and Carrick-On-Suir following a fatal collision. Diversions are in place. 

TIPPERARY: There are delays both ways on the N62 between Thurles and the M8, just after Thurles Golf Club. 

KERRY: The Tralee Rd is slow into Castleisland as traffic diverts from the N21, which is closed for works.

Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N71 between Kenmare and Glengarriff at Bonane until further notice due to storm damage to an embankment.

WATERFORD: There are delays in both directions at works on the N25 in Dungarvan between the Coolagh Rd R/A and N72 jct.

LIMERICK: It’s very slow approaching works which started today (21st) on the N21 between Rathkeale and Croagh.

GALWAY: Traffic is slow both ways on the N59 on the Kylemore side of Letterfrack. No incidents or works have been reported.

Heading into the city, the Tuam Rd is slow approaching the Bothar na dTreabh jct.

Elsewhere in the city, the Dublin Rd is busy both ways towards the Bon Secours Hospital.

There are delays on the N67 at works on the Ballinderreen side of Kinvara.

DONEGAL: It’s still slow both ways on the N14 between Letterkenny and the turn-off for Raphoe (R236). A stop/go system will be in place here for works until 5pm today (21st). 

Traffic is busy on the N56 at the works between Bruckless and Killybegs. Elsewhere on this route, there are delays south of Dungloe, likely due to works.

MAYO: There are delays in both directions on the N58 at the works south of Foxford.

MEATH: In Navan, a stop/go system will be in place for overnight works on the N51 near Balmoral Ind Estate, between Navan Fire Station and Dean Cogan Place, from today (21st) to Mon 5th Oct, 8pm to 5am each weeknight.

MONAGHAN: The N2 will be closed to facilitate works outside Clontibret on the Monaghan Town side from today (21st) until Mon 28th Sept. The closure will be in place from 7am to 7pm each day.

DUBLIN TRAFFIC  

In Clontarf, traffic lights are out of action at the junction of Vernon Ave and Clontarf Rd. Take care on approach. 

There are inbound delays on the Naas Rd passing Bluebell.

Meanwhile, inbound traffic on the Long Mile Rd is busy towards Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The Swords Rd is slowing both ways approaching the Collins Ave jct.

Watch out for changes to road layouts in Dublin city centre and, if driving, be extra mindful of pedestrians and cyclists who may need more room for physical distancing.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

LIVE ISSUES: 

IRISH RAIL: Due to operational issues, bus transfers will be in place for a number of Galway services today affecting trains to/from Limerick, Ennis and Athenry. See details here.

TIMETABLE INFO:

If you’re travelling via public transport, you are now required by law to wear a face covering and it’s advisable to pay your fare through contactless methods. Keep in mind too that capacity is reduced on most services to allow for physical distancing. 

DUBLIN BUS: Due to the closure of Lincoln Place for evening roadworks from tonight (21st) to Wednesday (23rd) night, diversions will be in place on Dublin Bus routes 26, 66/a and 67 from 7pm until the last bus. You can check your route here.

Dublin Bus is operating to a normal Monday to Friday timetable. There are, however, exceptions to some routes and Xpresso services. See the Dublin Bus website for more.

IRISH RAIL: Due to engineering works taking place between Mallow and Cork from today (21st) until Fri 12th November, there will be bus transfers in place on some evening services. Check your route here.

Otherwise, full services on all Irish Rail routes are now operating. 

BUS ÉIREANN: Normal weekday, Saturday and Sunday timetables are now in operation with some amendments in place. You can check all service disruptions on the Bus Éireann website here.

GO AHEAD: Services are running to the normal a Monday to Friday schedule. See the Go Ahead website for more information.

LUAS: Services are running to a normal timetable on both Luas lines.

Roadworks

ROADWORKS 

ULSTER

CAVAN: The Ballyjamesduff/Virginia Rd will be closed for works until Sat 26th Sept. Traffic will be diverted via New Inn and the N3.

DONEGAL: A closure will be in place for works on the road between Frosses and Glenties (R262) just north of Frosses itself from today (21st) until Friday (25th). Diversions will be in place via Ardara.

DONEGAL: Works are taking place on the N56 at Kilmacrenan until approx. late November. A stop/go system will be in place on weekdays from 8am to 7pm, with temporary traffic lights in place outside of those hours.

DONEGAL: A reduced speed limit of 50kmph remains in place for works on the N56 north of Glenties between Letterilly and Kilkenny until approx. 2021. 

DONEGAL: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N56 between Dunkineely and Killybegs until approx. early November.

DONEGAL: The N56 outside Inver will be down to one lane for works between Inver Bridge and the Frosses Rd (R262) jct until approx. the end of October.

MONAGHAN: The N2 will be closed to facilitate works outside Clontibret on the Monaghan Town side from today (21st) until Mon 28th Sept. The closure will be in place from 7am to 7pm on each day.

LEINSTER

CARLOW: Temporary traffic lights will be in place for works on the N80 between Bunclody and Kildavin until approx. Fri 2nd Oct.

DUBLIN: The M50 northbound will be closed to facilitate overnight works at J7 Lucan today (21st) from 10pm until 6am the following morning. Diversions will be in place.

DUBLIN: Castle St in Dalkey will be closed for works between the Convent Rd jct and Dalkey Castle until Fri 2nd Oct. Diversions will be in place.

DUBLIN: Overnight works will take place in both directions between the Loughlinstown R/A on the N11 and J5 Bray North on the M11 tonight (21st) from 10pm to 6am the following morning.

During these same times, there will also be a closure between J16 Cherrywood on the M50 and J5 Bray North on the M11. Diversions will be in place.

DUBLIN: In Dundrum Village, a new one-way traffic system will be in place on Main St, Sandyford Rd and Kilmacud Rd Upr to provide more space for pedestrians and cyclists and to facilitate public amenity improvements. As a result, there will be diversions in place for bus services and vehicular traffic until further notice. 

DUBLIN: There are some changes to road layouts in the Grangegorman area: Grangegorman Lwr is now only open to pedestrians and cyclists as a through-route, while motor vehicles may only use it for local access and will otherwise be diverted. Turning restrictions have also been put in place on the NCR and North Brunswick St. Take extra care if driving in the area and watch out for new signage.

DUBLIN: There are a number of changes to the road layout along the coastal route in Dun Laoghaire.  A new two-way cycle lane is in operation along most of the route between Newtown Ave in Blackrock and Sandycove Ave. Vehicular traffic is now one-way (towards Blackrock) on a stretch of Queen’s Rd between the Park Rd and the Lexicon, and again from the Old Dunleary Rd as far as Seapoint Ave.  There’s also a stretch that’s now one-way towards Sandycove, from Windsor Terrace out to Sandycove Ave West. Watch out for new signage in the area.

DUBLIN/KILDARE: Lane restrictions will be in place at various locations on the N7 in both directions between J2 Kingswood and J9 Naas North for rolling overnight works. These works will take place until Fri 30th Oct, from 10pm each night to 6am the following morning. It will be mainly Mon-Fri, with some weekend works taking place.

KILDARE: The Osberstown Rd in Naas will be closed for works just west of the Sallins Rd (R407) jct until Sun 4th Oct. Diversions will be in place..

KILKENNY: Two set of works are in place on the N76 between Callan and Cuffesgrange until Mon 28th Sept. Expect delays.

KILKENNY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N76 just south of the Callan Rd R/A in Kilkenny City until further notice.

KILKENNY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N25 from New Ross to Waterford Rd at Gaulstown today (21st) and tomorrow (22nd).

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N80 approx. halfway between Mountmellick and the Offaly county bounds today (21st) and tomorrow (22nd) from 8am to 5pm each day.

LAOIS: A stop/go system will be in place for works until Sat 3rd Oct on the N80 at Stradbally from 8am to 6pm each day.

LAOIS: Rolling works will be in place between J18 Portlaoise West on the M7 and J3 Rathdowney on the M8 until Fri 30th Oct. Lane closures and stop/go systems will be in place.

LONGFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for rolling works along the N63 in Longford Town from Market Square out to the roundabout on the Athlone Rd until December.

LOUTH: From today (21st) to Fri 6th Nov, works and a stop/go system will be in place on the N2 north of Collon.

LOUTH: The M1 southbound will close for overnight works tonight (21st) and tomorrow night (22nd) between J14 Ardee and J12 Dunleer, 7:30pm each night to 6:30am the following morning. Diversions will be in place.

OFFALY: A road closure wil be in place for works on the N62 between Crinkill and Brosna at Glasderrymore from today (21st) to Fri 2nd Oct from 8am to 6pm each day. Diversions will be in place.

WESTMEATH: A temporary road layout will be in place for works on the N52 approx. halfway between Delvin and Mullingar until Oct 2020.

WICKLOW: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N81 between the Dublin bounds and Blessington near the turn-off for the Sally Gap until Thursday (24th).

WICKLOW: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place for works on the N11 in both directions between J7 Bray South and J8 Kilmacanogue until approx. February 2021.

WICKLOW: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place for works on the N81 just south of Hollywood until Wed 11th Nov.

MUNSTER

CLARE: There will be a number of layout changes to roads in Ennis Town Centre from now until Wed 19th May 2021. The changes will be in place Mon to Sat from 8am to 6pm. This is to allow for social distancing practices in the town. Diversions will be signposted and parking will be affected as well.

CORK: The East Beach/Harbour Rd route (R624) in Cobh will be closed for works until Sat 3rd Oct. Diversions will be in place.

KERRY: The Tralee/Ballyduff Rd (R556) is closed for works approx. halfway between the two towns.

KERRY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N70 Ring of Kerry at Waterville  until Mon 2nd Nov, 8am to 6pm each day.

KERRY: Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N71 between Kenmare and Glengarriff at Bonane until further notice due to storm damage to an embankment

KERRY: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place on the N71 Ring of Kerry between Kenmare and Moll's Gap to facilitate works until Thurs 8th July 2021.

KERRY: There will be a road closure in place for works on the N21 at the Castleisland Bypass northbound at the N23 jct today (21st) from 8am to 4pm. The closure will be in place southbound on the N21 at the N23 jct tomorrow (22nd) from 8am to 4pm.

LIMERICK: A stop/go system will be in place on the N21 between Rathkeale and Croagh from today (21st) until Friday (25th) between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

LIMERICK: The on and off ramps of the M7 westbound at J29 Ballysimon will close for works each weeknight until Thursday (24th) between 7pm each evening until 6am the following morning. Diversions will be signposted.

TIPPERARY: The Nenagh/Cloughjordan Rd (R491) will be closed for works on Monday (21st) just outside Cloughjordan itself. Diversions will be in place.

TIPPERARY: The N52 in Borrisokane will close for works until 7pm Fri 2nd Oct. Diversions will be in place via Birr. 

TIPPERARY: Cathedral St in Thurles, part of the N75, will be closed for overnight works between Liberty Square and the Slievenamon Rd jct until 7am this morning (21st). Diversions will be in place via Emmet St and the Slievenamon Rd.

TIPPERARY: In Thurles, Liberty Square (part of the N75 route) will be closed for overnight works until Thursday (24th). The closure will be in place from 8pm each evening until 6am the following morning and diversions will be in place.

TIPPERARY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N62 between Thurles and the M8, just after Thurles Golf Club today (21st), 8am to 6pm.

WATERFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N25 in Dungarvan between the Coolagh Rd R/A and N72 jct until approx. Mon 7th Dec.

CONNACHT

GALWAY: Temporary traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 50kmph are in place on the N67 just outside Kinvara on the Kilcolgan side until approx. June 2021.

GALWAY: Rolling works will be taking place along the N59 starting at Moycullen and moving west towards Letterfrack. These will be in place until further notice.

GALWAY: Works are taking place on the N59 on the Oughterard side of Maam Cross until early 2021. 

GALWAY: The M17 will close southbound for works from J20 Tuam to J19 Annagh Hill between 8pm and 9pm this evening (21st). Diversions will be in place via the N83.

LEITRIM: Rolling works will be in place on the N4 east of Carrick-on-Shannon between Jamestown and the Mohill turn-off (R201) until further notice. 

LEITRIM: Works will be in place on the N16 on the Glencar side of Manorhamilton until approx. the end of October, with a reduced speed limit of 60kmph also in place. 

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place on the N58 between Ballyvary and Foxford until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place at various locations on the N60 for rolling roadworks between Balla and Claremorris until further notice.

MAYO: Works will be in place on the N59 just outside Newport on the Westport side until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N84 on the Kilmaine side of Shrule from today (21st) until Sat 31st Oct, 8am to 6pm each weekday.

ROSCOMMON: The N61 will be closed for works between the N5 jct at Tulsk and the Strokestown turn-off (R368) until Friday (25th). Traffic will be diverted via Strokestown itself.

ROSCOMMON: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N5 at Tulsk until Fri 9th Oct.

SLIGO: Lane closures will be in place for works on the N4 outside Sligo Town near the Summerhill R/A until Friday (25th).

SLIGO: Until August 2021, the N4 will be closed for a 3km stretch south of Collooney near the Tobar Bhríde R/A to facilitate works. Diversions will be signposted via a new road through the industrial estate.

SLIGO: A stop/go system will be in place on the N4 for works south of Castlebaldwin until approx. Sun 4th Oct. Expect delays.

SLIGO: Works are taking place in Sligo Town at the junction of the N4, N15 and N16 - there has been a change to the road layout for northbound traffic turning left onto the Rosses Point Rd (R291), and the N15 southbound is closed at this junction. The N4 northbound is also closed from Ballast Quay to Duck St, part of the N16, until further notice. 

SLIGO: Rolling works will be in place on the N17 between Charlestown and Collooney from today (21st) to Friday (25th) to facilitate verge trimming.

MEATH: Works are in place in Navan on the Kentstown Rd (R153) at the Metges Rd jct. Varying lane restrictions will be in place until further notice.

OFFALY: A road closure wil be in place for works on the N62 between Crinkill and Brosna at Glasderrymore from today (21st) to Fri 2nd Oct from 8am to 6pm each day. Diversions will be in place.

WESTMEATH: A temporary road layout will be in place for works on the N52 approx. halfway between Delvin and Mullingar until Oct 2020.

WICKLOW: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N81 between the Dublin bounds and Blessington near the turn-off for the Sally Gap until Thursday (24th).

WICKLOW: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place for works on the N11 in both directions between J7 Bray South and J8 Kilmacanogue until approx. February 2021.

WICKLOW: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place for works on the N81 just south of Hollywood until Wed 11th Nov.

MUNSTER

CLARE: There will be a number of layout changes to roads in Ennis Town Centre from now until Wed 19th May 2021. The changes will be in place Mon to Sat from 8am to 6pm. This is to allow for social distancing practices in the town. Diversions will be signposted and parking will be affected as well.

CORK: The East Beach/Harbour Rd route (R624) in Cobh will be closed for works until Sat 3rd Oct. Diversions will be in place.

KERRY: The Tralee/Ballyduff Rd (R556) is closed for works approx. halfway between the two towns.

KERRY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N70 Ring of Kerry at Waterville  until Mon 2nd Nov, 8am to 6pm each day.

KERRY: Temporary traffic lights are in place on the N71 between Kenmare and Glengarriff at Bonane until further notice due to storm damage to an embankment

KERRY: A reduced speed limit of 60kmph will be in place on the N71 Ring of Kerry between Kenmare and Moll's Gap to facilitate works until Thurs 8th July 2021.

KERRY: There will be a road closure in place for works on the N21 at the Castleisland Bypass northbound at the N23 jct today (21st) from 8am to 4pm. The closure will be in place southbound on the N21 at the N23 jct tomorrow (22nd) from 8am to 4pm.

LIMERICK: A stop/go system will be in place on the N21 between Rathkeale and Croagh from today (21st) until Friday (25th) between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

LIMERICK: The on and off ramps of the M7 westbound at J29 Ballysimon will close for works each weeknight until Thursday (24th) between 7pm each evening until 6am the following morning. Diversions will be signposted.

TIPPERARY: The Nenagh/Cloughjordan Rd (R491) will be closed for works on Monday (21st) just outside Cloughjordan itself. Diversions will be in place.

TIPPERARY: The N52 in Borrisokane will close for works until 7pm Fri 2nd Oct. Diversions will be in place via Birr. 

TIPPERARY: Cathedral St in Thurles, part of the N75, will be closed for overnight works between Liberty Square and the Slievenamon Rd jct until 7am this morning (21st). Diversions will be in place via Emmet St and the Slievenamon Rd.

TIPPERARY: In Thurles, Liberty Square (part of the N75 route) will be closed for overnight works until Thursday (24th). The closure will be in place from 8pm each evening until 6am the following morning and diversions will be in place.

TIPPERARY: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N62 between Thurles and the M8, just after Thurles Golf Club today (21st), 8am to 6pm.

WATERFORD: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N25 in Dungarvan between the Coolagh Rd R/A and N72 jct until approx. Mon 7th Dec.

CONNACHT

GALWAY: Temporary traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 50kmph are in place on the N67 just outside Kinvara on the Kilcolgan side until approx. June 2021.

GALWAY: Rolling works will be taking place along the N59 starting at Moycullen and moving west towards Letterfrack. These will be in place until further notice.

GALWAY: Works are taking place on the N59 on the Oughterard side of Maam Cross until early 2021. 

GALWAY: The M17 will close southbound for works from J20 Tuam to J19 Annagh Hill between 8pm and 9pm this evening (21st). Diversions will be in place via the N83.

LEITRIM: Rolling works will be in place on the N4 east of Carrick-on-Shannon between Jamestown and the Mohill turn-off (R201) until further notice. 

LEITRIM: Works will be in place on the N16 on the Glencar side of Manorhamilton until approx. the end of October, with a reduced speed limit of 60kmph also in place. 

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place on the N58 between Ballyvary and Foxford until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place at various locations on the N60 for rolling roadworks between Balla and Claremorris until further notice.

MAYO: Works will be in place on the N59 just outside Newport on the Westport side until further notice.

MAYO: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N84 on the Kilmaine side of Shrule from today (21st) until Sat 31st Oct, 8am to 6pm each weekday.

ROSCOMMON: The N61 will be closed for works between the N5 jct at Tulsk and the Strokestown turn-off (R368) until Friday (25th). Traffic will be diverted via Strokestown itself.

ROSCOMMON: A stop/go system will be in place for works on the N5 at Tulsk until Fri 9th Oct.

SLIGO: Lane closures will be in place for works on the N4 outside Sligo Town near the Summerhill R/A until Friday (25th).

SLIGO: Until August 2021, the N4 will be closed for a 3km stretch south of Collooney near the Tobar Bhríde R/A to facilitate works. Diversions will be signposted via a new road through the industrial estate.

SLIGO: A stop/go system will be in place on the N4 for works south of Castlebaldwin until approx. Sun 4th Oct. Expect delays.

SLIGO: Works are taking place in Sligo Town at the junction of the N4, N15 and N16 - there has been a change to the road layout for northbound traffic turning left onto the Rosses Point Rd (R291), and the N15 southbound is closed at this junction. The N4 northbound is also closed from Ballast Quay to Duck St, part of the N16, until further notice. 

SLIGO: Rolling works will be in place on the N17 between Charlestown and Collooney from today (21st) to Friday (25th) to facilitate verge trimming.
