The four gentlemen of the flowers

I think this painting of the four gentlemen of flowers was extraordinary because of the unique meaning behind it. This painting was inspired by the Chinese culture of the four gentlemen of the flowers, they are red wintersweet, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum. Red wintersweet is the beautiful flower that blooms despite the frost and snow, this represents the indomitable characteristic of a gentlemen. Orchid was the flower with light colour and fragrant that grows in secluded places represents the characteristic of modest gentlemen. Bamboo was an upright evergreen plant that doesn’t wither during winter represents characteristic of elegant gentlemen. Chrysanthemum on the other hand was not only elegant with refreshing fragrant, when it’s flower withered it’s still beautiful not competing it’s fragrant with other flowers represents the noble characteristic of tranquility.
