The Dirt Trail

This artwork that I made, shows me riding down a dirt trail at high speed trying very hard to take control of my bike. The chaotic scenery is a reflection of how I'm growing up into a young adult and still grasping on to my childhood experiences.
I used an emoji instead of my own face to resemble how in today's society, we use texting and emojis to show emotions rather than our own faces. It expresses the thrill and excitement I have going down the trail. The extraordinary use of colours reminded me of my childhood and how bright and playful I was/am.
I have never been comfortable using markers on an artwork, but I took the chance and I loved how it turned out. Firstly I sketched the idea then used coloured pencils as the first layer. Afterwards I applied markers on top of the pencils which gave out a crisp smooth surface when looking at it. I had a lot of fun making this artwork!
