Twisted Nerve/Xl - 2000 - 30 minutes

Graphic artist, DJ, remixer and friend and producer of Mercury Prize winner Damon Gough (Badly Drawn Boy), Andy Votel has somehow managed to catch his breath long enough to release his debut mini album on his own Twisted Nerve imprint.

Largely instrumental, he does justice to the record's title, creating a sonic patchwork which includes spy theme shuffles ('Urbanite Rocks'), punk outs ('Return Of The Spooky Driver') and offbeat blues ('Pickpocket').

Don't expect anything as catchy as the offerings from his chart cohort, but be ready for intrigue and lush lullabys at 4am.
