Scotland’s Gerard Butler is in talks to star in a remake of the 1991 Keanu Reeves-starring surfing heist, Point Break.
The Hollywood Reporter says Butler is in final negotiations for the film which will be directed by Ericson Core.
The screenplay for the updated version has been written by Kurt Wimmer and is set in the world of extreme sports and sees an FBI agent infiltrating a crime ring.
Butler is lined up to play Bodhi who saves the undercover FBI agent and brings him into the criminal world. The role of the FBI agent has not yet been cast.
The original film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and also starred Patrick Swayze.
