The RTÉ Sports Awards are presented by Darragh Maloney; Strictly Come Dancing reaches the nail-biting grand finale; and six risk-taking and rather brilliant magicians do their stuff on The Illusionists. Our top telly for December 21.
The RTÉ Sports Awards, 9.45pm, RTÉ One
The RTÉ Sports Awards in association with The Irish Sports Council will see a host of Irish sporting stars in attendance for one of the most prestigious sport events of the year. Darragh Maloney (above) presents the awards ceremony. Awards presented on the night will include RTÉ Sports Person of the Year, RTÉ Sports Team of the Year, the RTÉ Sports Manager of the Year and the RTÉ/Irish Sports Council’s Hall of Fame Award. Expect all the great performers from track and field and elsewhere.
Strictly Come Dancing, 6.30pm, BBC One
After 12 weeks at last it's make-or-break time, as the remaining four couples take to the dance floor. Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly present this ultimate ballroom showdown. Judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli score the dances for each couple. However, it will be down to the viewers to choose their winner. Strictly Come Dancing: The Results can be seen later in the evening (8.40pm), when one couple will be announced as the winner and will lift the glitter-ball trophy. Tonight’s grand finale features “a very special music guest”.
The Illusionists, 9.10pm, UTV
Hosted by Stephen Mulhern, six of the world’s top magicians and illusionists give a special performance in front of a celebrity audience at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. The show features dazzling large scale illusions, comedy magic and death-defying escape stunts which have the audience enthralled and on the edge of their seats. And that's just us folks at home.
