The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan, officially launched Culture Night 2013 at the Museum Building, Trinity College on Tuesday. Culture Night 2013 takes place on Friday September 20.
This is the eighth annual Culture Night, with 34 regions, towns and cities around the island of Ireland taking part in a variety of free cultural and artistic events.
Music, dance, theatre, spoken word, literature, visual art, tours, workshops and exhibitions are all part of this year's programme, with details available at: www.culturenight.ie.
There will be an exclusive performance by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, with a specially commissioned Culture Night fanfare by composer Stephen Gardner. The performance will be broadcast live on RTÉ Radio 1's Arena.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Deenihan said: "Culture Night provides a terrific opportunity for families to sample aspects of Irish Culture and Heritage which might be new to them.
"The National Cultural institutions all remain open late for this night: it is all about participation and celebrating and becoming familiar with our own culture and venues, which are on our doorstep but some of which we may never have visited previously."
