Benedict Cumberbatch: "I felt like a kid in a candy shop"

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has said that he loved working on Star Trek into Darkness so much he felt like a “kid in a candy shop.”

The 36-year-old star plays villain John Harrison in JJ Abrams' sci-fi sequel, and Benedict revealed that he had some great banter on set.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Cumberbatch said: ''I loved the thrill of it. Physically having to get bigger and put on a lot of heft and muscle at the same time as working on the stunt sequences and choreographed fight sequences - it was a joy.

"I felt like a kid in a candy store. There's one point where I said to myself, 'Are you supposed to have this much fun earning a living?' It's just ridiculous.''

Star Trek Into Darkness is in cinemas from May 9.
