Name: Sanita Puspure
Event: Rowing - women's single sculls
The Latvian-born Puspure has been competing in the green jersey of Ireland since 2010.
Qualifying for the 2012 Games in London saw Puspure become Ireland's first female single sculler at an Olympics since Moscow 1980. In 2016, the Old Collegians competitor narrowly missed out on a semi-final place in Rio by just .065 of a second.
That near miss was the catalyst for better things, with Puspure going on to claim gold medals in the single sculls at the the World Championships in 2018 and 2019 - and the 2019 and 2020 European Championships.
Leading the field home at the last Worlds in Austria saw her claim her place at the Tokyo Games.
