Manchester United’s Robbie Brady has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad after Kevin Doyle's thigh injury ruled him out for Germany and Faroe Islands games, the FAI have announced.

The FAI said that Doyle’s scan “showed clear signs of a muscle injury” and ruled him out of the upcoming double-header against Germany and the Faroe Islands.

Brady, 20, made his debut for Ireland in a friendly against Oman last month, scoring one goal and setting up another in a 4-1 win.

Brady had been on the standby list. He will be joined in the squad by Sunderland midfielder David Meyler, who received a late call-up yesterday.
