Linfield will take a two-goal advantage back to Belfast after beating IF Fuglafjordur 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa League first-round qualifying tie.
The Northern Irish club toiled for 68 minutes on the Faroe Islands before debutant Andy Waterworth - a recent signing from Glentoran - broke the deadlock.
The previously resilient Fuglafjordur side were rocked and conceded again six minutes later as Waterworth's replacement Philip Lowry found the back of the net.
Hogni Madsen and Ari Ellingsgaard came closest for the hosts, who face an uphill battle to overturn the deficit at Windsor Park in seven days' time.
Linfield edged out Faroese opposition in the form of B36 Torshavn during their bid to qualify for last season's Champions League, only to fall foul of AEL Limassol in the second round.
