Paris St Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that David Beckham could make his debut with the big-spending Ligue 1 leaders ahead of schedule next weekend.

Ancelotti tonight revealed the former England skipper was set to travel with the squad to watch their Champions League tie at Valencia on Tuesday, before training with his new team-mates for the first time a day later.

Beckham has been training with Premier League side Arsenal in London this week to fast-track his fitness and could be thrust into the PSG squad to meet Sochaux as early as next Sunday.

"He is coming on Wednesday and will train at the Camp des Loges with the team," Ancelotti told reporters after Friday’s 3-1 win over Bastia at the Parc des Princes.

"We'll see his fitness and whether he can perhaps play the match against Sochaux."

Asked about whether the 37-year-old would join the team for the first leg of the last-16 tie at the Mestalla, he added: "I think he'll come and watch the game."

"I'll work hard to make the team successful" - David Beckham

Beckham stole the headlines on transfer deadline day when the ambitious Parisians confirmed his signature on a five-month contract.

The midfielder has not played a competitive match since he helped the Los Angeles Galaxy to the MLS Cup title - his final game for the club after a five-year stay - last December.

Beckham revealed this week that he did not expect to be match fit for at least another two weeks and that he did not expect to be immediately handed a starting role.

However, Ancelotti's comments tonight suggest he is ready to turn to the veteran as PSG, who moved six points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table tonight, look to fight for honours at home and in Europe.

"I've never expected that wherever I have gone. I'll work hard for my place, I'll work hard to make the team successful," Beckham told French broadcaster beIN Sport this week.

"We'll see, I don't know (where I will play). I can either play in the middle or on the right.

"Goalkeeping's not my biggest strength so I'll stay out of the way of that one. I don't expect to come in to this team and to be a starter in the teamsheet."
