Derry City's Europa League qualifying tie against FK Riteriai will go ahead as planned on Tuesday after the Candystripes were granted permission to travel to Lithuania.

Last Monday the United Kingdom and Ireland were removed from the green list of countries that can visit Lithuania without needing a two-week quarantine.

The Lithuanian health department said the increasing cases in the countries led to their change.

"Given the deteriorating epidemiological situation in Denmark, Ireland, Greece, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Nepal, these countries have been put on the list of affected countries," they said in a statement.

The new restrictions - put in place after the draw was made - meant that FK Riteriai may have had to forfeit the tie under UEFA regulations.

However following lengthy talks with officials, City will be allowed to enter the country with a limited travelling party, so the game will take place.

City CEO Sean Barrett said: "The team and a couple of essential personnel have been granted permission to travel to Vilnius."

Derry will stream the game, which will kick off at 5pm Irish time on Tuesday.
