Real Madrid ground out a 2-1 win at Granada on Monday to record their ninth consecutive victory and move within touching distance of reclaiming the Liga title.
The win saw Zinedine Zidane's side restore their four-point lead over second-placed Barcelona and they will clinch their first title since 2017 with victory at home to Villarreal on Thursday or if they beat Leganes on the final day of the season.
French defender Ferland Mendy rifled into the net from the tightest of angles to give Real the lead in the 10th minute while top scorer Karim Benzema doubled the advantage with a cool finish in the 16th.
Granada's Darwin Machis pulled one back in the 50th and Real keeper Thibaut Courtois was forced to produced a fine save to deny forward Antonin late on while captain Sergio Ramos was then the hero as he cleared a Ramon Azeez shot off the line.
Elsewhere, Villarreal's hopes of finishing in the top four ended with a 2-1 defeat at home to Real Sociedad, meaning Sevilla have qualified for the Champions League.
Sociedad's Brazilian striker Willian Jose broke the deadlock just after the hour mark before defender Diego Llorente added a second in the 75th minute before Santi Cazorla pulled one back for the hosts late on.
The result left Villarreal nine points behind Sevilla, who won 2-0 at home to Mallorca on Sunday and return to Europe's elite club competition after a two-year absence.
While Alaves picked up a valuable point in their bid for survival by drawing 0-0 at home to Getafe.
Getafe looked to have found a late winner through substitute Hugo Duro but the goal was wiped out after a VAR review showed striker Jaime Mata had handled the ball in the build-up.
