Dundalk are hopeful that winger Michael Duffy will still play a part in tomorrow's Champions League clash in Latvia after departing the squad for the imminent birth of his child.

The tie with Riga FC is delicately poised 0-0 after last week’s draw at Oriel Park in the first round qualifying clash, but Duffy is in a race against time to arrive at the Latvian capital before tomorrow’s 5.30pm kick-off.

The 24-year-old was with the squad at Dublin airport yesterday morning when he got word he needed to return home with his partner due to give birth.

Dundalk officials have told RTÉ Sport that they are looking into alternative travel arrangements and are hopeful he will play a role in Riga.
