Republic of Ireland defender Seamus Coleman is in the frame to start for Everton against Chelsea after shaking off the illness that forced him out of last week's defeat to Newcastle.

The Donegal man pulled out of the warm-up at St James's Park and did not feature in a game the Toffees squandered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2.

Coleman is in Mick McCarthy's trimmed-down 23-man squad for the looming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia.

He had shone in Everton's goalless draw against Liverpool at Goodison two weeks ago but was not up to facing the Magpies.

Coleman should now get another game under his belt on Sunday to go into the international double-header in good shape.

Leighton Baines is also in contention to return for the visit of Maurizio Sarri's side. He hasn't featured since the start of February because of a back injury.

Kurt Zouma will be unavailable to face his parent club while fellow centre-back Phil Jagielka is unlikely to return until after the international break.
