UCD have announced a new management team ahead of the 2015 season as former Bray Wanderers supremo Pat Devlin has been named as the club’s director of football.
College suffered relegation from the Premier Division in November and last year’s assistant manager Collie O’Neill will work alongside Devlin, taking over as first team manager.
Former Sligo Rovers, St Patrick’s Athletic and Bohemians player Evan McMillan returns to his former club to work alongside Devlin and O’Neill in the role of player-coach.
“I’m as happy as a pig in manure,” Devlin told the Irish Sun, about his return to League of Ireland football.
Devlin will work alongside O’Neill in the same way that he worked with Eddie Gormley and Keith Long at Bray Wanderers, allowing O’Neill to take charge of most of the coaching with a joint role on matchday.
“It worked well there and I don’t see why it can’t at UCD too,” added Devlin.
“Age catches up with you so I won’t be running around on the coaching side. Collie will do that side of things.”
