Keane finished from two Landon Donovan passes to give Galaxy victory in the opening match of the competition at the StubHub Center.

The Irish striker was following up a hat-trick in a 4-2 success over Real Salt Lake at the weekend.

The first goal was finished from a tight angle with goalkeeper Wardy Alfaro unable to keep the ball out and in stoppage time he breached the Cartaginés offside trap for a second of the night.

The Galaxy return to league action on Saturday evening away to Vancouver.
