Cork City all but sealed a place in the Setanta Cup quarter-finals tonight with a 4-0 win over Cliftonville.

The Carling Premiership leaders rested a number of players and City took advantage as Gearoid Morrissey, Ian Turner (2) and Daryl Kavanagh found the target in the first leg tie at Turner’s Cross.

Trevor Croly’s first game in charge of Shamrock Rovers ended in defeat as Coleraine took a surprise 1-0 advantage thanks to David Scullion’s 45th minute goal at Tallaght Stadium.

The game of the night came at Hunky Dorys Park as Drogheda United take a one-goal lead to Shamrock Park after a 3-2 win against Portadown.

Ryan Brennan and Paul O’Connor put the Airtricity League side 2-0 up inside 14 minutes, but Aaron Burns and Kevin Braniff levelled things before half-time.

Gavin Brennan ensured Drogheda came out on top with a goal on the hour mark for a 3-2 win.

St Patrick’s Athletic and Glentoran played out a 0-0 draw in a match of few chances at Richmond Park.

The second leg ties are due to take place next Monday 18 February.
