Fleetwood have appointed former Scotland international Graham Alexander as their new manager, meaning Phil Brown’s move to Limerick could be a step closer.
The 41-year-old Alexander moves across Lancashire from Preston, where he was working as head of youth development having called time on a professional career spanning over 1,000 games at the end of last season.
Brown has held talks with Limerick over their vacancy with the newly-promoted Airtricity Premier Division side looking to appoint a new boss after Pat Scully’s exit.
The former Bolton Wanderers and Hull City manager is one of 10 candidates for the job and had been in contention for the Fleetwood job, but Alexander has been given the nod.
Limerick could announce a new manager by the end of the week, according to reports.
