Australia coach Michael Cheika says his side must counter Ireland’s X factor when the sides meet tomorrow (5.30pm, live on RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ2).

Joe Schmidt’s men are bidding to end the November series on a high after last week’s defeat to New Zealand.

But the Wallabies are on the hunt for a tour clean sweep hoping to add to wins over Wales, Scotland and France before the final Test against England next week.

Asked what challenge he thought the Irish bring, the former Leinster coach told RTÉ Sport: “I think their intensity, probably in the first game blew New Zealand away and they brought a very high intensity.

“It didn’t matter who was playing, in terms of players out there.

“They played very well in the two games.

“They’re very well drilled; they’re a very well organised team. They’ve got that X factor in attack, in their back row and on the edges and also the X factor in defence with their hold-up defence.

“We’ve got some big tall blokes, I’m sure they’ll be targeting those guys.

“They’re very consistent on the field so you know they are going to bring something at that level, from what they’ve been producing against New Zealand in those last two weeks.

“They’re beating the world champions, who we’ve lost to three times this year. You know you are going to be in for a tough one.”
