Ulster's Paddy Jackson has been ruled out of action for up to six weeks after picking up a shoulder injury in his side's Guinness PRO12 clash with Ospreys on Friday evening.

Jackson was forced off injured towards the end of Ulster's 25-16 victory at Kingspan Stadium, after he kicked two penalties and a conversion.

A scan has confirmed that the outhalf has suffered an AC joint sprain at his right shoulder.

Jackson is set to miss his province's busy Christmas period including back-to-back Champions Cup games with Scarlets and PRO12 encounters with Munster, Connacht and Leinster.

Ulster will be hoping to have him back for January's crucial Champions Cup games with Toulon and Leicester.
