The First Division Clubs' Association last night rejected new proposals to change the structure of the All-Ireland League.
Earlier this week, the IRFU put forward proposals designed to re-structure the domestic club game from the start of the 2005/2006 season.
The plan envisaged clubs competing in four provincial leagues before Christmas, with a three-division All-Ireland League to be formed on the basis of the results in the provincial leagues.
However, the First Division clubs have called for the retention of the existing promotion/relegation structure and hope to agree a new blueprint with their Division Two and Three counterparts.
