Dominic Casey has been named World Rowing Coach of the Year for 2018.
The Skibbereen man, who guided Paul and Gary O’Donovan to a gold medal at the World Rowing Championships in September, was honoured at a gala awards ceremony in Berlin.
The O’Donovan brothers lost out to the Australia four in the battle for the Male Crew of the Year, while the Poland quadruple were named the Female Crew of the Year, ahead of Sanita Puspure, who won the single sculls title at the World Championships.
nterviewed after he received his award, Casey told host Peter O’Hanlon that his advice to young rowers was: "Have fun. Keep it simple."
