Amateur jockey Mikey O'Connor can expect to be sidelined for around six weeks after he suffered abdominal injuries at Killarney last Friday.

O'Connor sustained fractured ribs and bad bruising when he fell from Moon Dice in a two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase at the County Kerry circuit.

Dr Adrian McGoldrick, senior medical officer of the Irish Turf Club, said: "Mikey was discharged from hospital on Sunday and is fine.

"It was a bad fall, but he's now at home recovering.

"He will be reassessed in a couple of weeks, but it's likely he'll be out of action for about six weeks."
