Gordon Elliott is hoping Flaxen Flare can make the most of what looks a golden opportunity in the Corkracecourse.ie Hurdle at the Mallow track on Sunday.

Last season's Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle winner faces two vastly inferior rivals, according to the form book, as he bids to go one better after finishing second to Missunited in the Guinness Galway Hurdle.

"It looks an ideal race, only three have been declared," Elliott told At The Races.

"On ratings he's about 20lb to 25lb ahead. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that easy, but with only three runners hopefully he should collect."

Flaxen Flare is likely to be given the most to do by the James Nash-trained Massini's Trap, a winner at Ballinrobe earlier this month.

Choisilady, from Sabrina Harty's stable, has to improve greatly on what she has shown in two races over jumps so far to get involved.
