Celestial Halo will return to France for a crack at the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil in three weeks after his thrilling victory in the Prix La Barka at the weekend.

Trainer Paul Nicholls is quite happy to keep last season's World Hurdle runner-up on the go in a bid to repeat the feat of Thousand Stars, who won both French races last year but could finish only fourth on Sunday.

Nicholls told At The Races: "He came in late and I just thought it was a good race for him.

"We'll now go back for the French Champion Hurdle on June 9.

"The ground, the trip, he stays nicely - it was ideal - and it all augurs well in three weeks' time.

"He's a fitter horse now and the way he stayed on I think the three miles will be better for him."
