Voler La Vedette made a superb start to her campaign with an easy victory in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan.

Colm Murphy's smart mare came with a smooth run at the third last to take the lead and pull away from her rivals.

The favourite Mikael D'Haguenet threatened but only briefly and the 2-1 shot, ridden by Andrew Lynch, went on to win the Grade Two contest by three and a quarter lengths from Fully Funded.

Mikael D'Haguenet was slightly disappointing again, fading to finish only third.

Murphy said: "She is stronger and has been easier to train. She will more than likely go for the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse in two weeks' time.

"She gets two and a half miles really well and she settled well today. Andrew (Lynch) knows her very well. I was a bit worried as she was going so well at home and she never works well at home."
