Blue Square will be the new title sponsors of day one of the Budweiser Irish Derby Festival on Friday June 24.

Established as one of the leading interactive betting companies, they will support the Blue Square Balanchine Stakes, a brand new race for 2yo fillies over 7 furlongs, together with three other races.

Acquired by leisure giant Rank Group in 2003, Blue Square has gone from strength to strength and can now boost in excess of 500,000 customers including 80,000 in Ireland alone. Blue Square is now hoping to further their client base in Ireland.

Commenting on the sponsorship, racecourse General Manager Paul Hensey said, "We are always delighted to welcome a new sponsor to the Curragh to join what is undoubtedly one of the high points of the racing year and are pleased that Blue Square are committed to working with us to boost attendance and also on the entertainment programme which has become such an important feature of the race evening."
