No Japanese joy for Golan and Murtagh

Golan, ridden by Johnny Murtagh, was out of luck as Jungle Pocket and Olivier Peslier led home a home-trained one-two-three in the Japan Cup in Tokyo this morning. Peslier's mount, winner of the Japanese Derby in May, took the lead close home to beat T M Opera O in a photo-finish with Narita Top Road in third.

Golan, attempting to give trainer Sir Michael Stoute a third win in the world's second richest race, made late ground but could only finish sixth.
