Ellen Keane's mother Laura says that the support from the community in Clontarf following Ellen’s gold medal in the Paralympics has been "unreal".
Friends and neighbours gathered outside the family home following the race to applaud Ellen’s success.
"We were talking to Ellen a few minutes ago and she had the biggest smile you’ve ever seen on her face," Laura said.
Philip Keane, Ellen’s brother, said he always believed she could win the gold medal.
Ellen’s father Eddie said there were "a lot of long days in the lead-up to this".
"We were there at the pool at 4am six mornings a week," he said.
Fair to say the Keane family in Clontarf enjoyed that! #Paralympics #rtesport
