Greta Streimikyte claimed gold for Ireland in the T13 1500m World Para Athletics European Championships in record-breaking time in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The Clonliffe Harriers athlete ran a superb race and had a 20-metre lead going into the final bend before crossing the line in a time of 4:29.38 to set a new European record, finishing just over half a second ahead of Spain's Izaskun Oses Ayucar.

It is the second time Streimikyte has won European gold after her exploits in Berlin three years ago, while she also took bronze in 2016.
