Sanita Puspure has booked her place in the C final of Women's Single Sculls.

Puspure took victory in the C/D semi-final in a time of 7:51.59 for a 10-second winning margin. The C final will take place on Saturday at 10.20am to determine places (13-18) in the Single Sculls event.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the race, the Latvian born competitor was more than pleased with her efforts. She said: "Even though I won with a bit to spare, I stayed focused throughout. The cheers of the crowd also helped me, so overall it was a great experience to get the win."

Puspure is now determined to win Saturday's final and added: "I want to win the C final. Obviously I'd rather be in the B final, but but maybe I'm not at that standard yet, physically.

In terms of my technique, I will have to improve and having the desired mental strength is also crucial as I look to the future."

"The Olympic experience has been great in that you have to push yourself that little bit more when you’re competing with the best."
