Ireland are on the hunt for more medals as Day 9 of the Olympic games kicks off.

Golfing pair Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are right in the hunt as they try and close a three-shot lead on American Xander Schauffele.

Lowry is out at 2.36am with Abraham Ancer (MEX) and Cam Smith (AUS) with McIlroy out at 2.58am alongside Carlos Ortiz (MEX) and Seb Munoz (COL).

In the ring, Aidan Walsh is already assured of a medal but he can upgrade to either silver or gold while Kurt Walker will be attempting to guarantee at least a bronze when he fights Duke Ragan.

Rhys McClenaghan will also carry a good medal hope in the Pommel Horse final.

There is also equestrian and athletics action too.
