Michael Ryan and Camilla Speirs missed out on posting scores after being disqualified for falling in their runs.

They are eliminated from the competition.

Aoife Clark, however, lies 21st overall, after a round score of 52.50 with Master Crusoe.

Joseph Murphy has placed 29th on Electric Cruise with 60.40.

Mark Kyle faced pressure with Coolio as he needed to avoid a dismount that would have eliminated Ireland from the team event but he finished with 65.90 and 35th place.

It left Ireland in seventh for the team cross-country after yesterday’s 10th place in the dressage with 13 teams taking part.

Champions Germany are ahead overall with tomorrow morning's showjumping finale to come.

The Germans are on a score of 124.70, 5.5 penalties ahead of Britain, with Sweden third.

The individual competition, meanwhile, has joint leaders in Germany's Ingrid Klimke and Swedish rider Sara Algotsson Ostholt.

Mark Todd, the 56-year-old New Zealander chasing a third Olympic title 24 years after his last one, is third, just ahead of world champion Michael Jung.

The top four medal contenders are separated by only 1.3 penalties.
